Solid assessment. I don't know that I've thought of it as "the" turning point, but I should have.
The Edwards issue was Gailey and Nix proving a point to finally get control. They had to get Ralph, Brandon, and whoever else out of the way so they could do what they needed to do. The only way to get Edwards out was to make it patently obvious why he could not stay. Ditching him in week 2 that year was the turning point of the franchise.
