The Bills have a new head coach, the Sabres are about to begin play in a lockout-shortened NHL season, and WNY listeners have a new sports radio station.

Tomorrow marks the launch of Cumulus-owned “The Fan 1270” which will initially feature Rich “Bull” Gaenzler live from 12pm – 3pm on weekdays and will be filled out with programming from the CBS Sports Network.

CBS recently pulled Jim Rome away from his longtime deal with Premiere Radio Network and it stands to reason that, as soon as legally possible, The Fan will snag his show from its current home in Buffalo, WGR.

No other details are available at this time but it will be fun to keep an eye (ear?) on this developing situation.

  1. Does anyone actually think that WHLD will actually be able to compete with WGR? I, for one, enjoyed the music that used to be on WHLD. Just another corporate media giant ruining good local stations. Remember good old KB, anyone?
