Hey everyone, it’s a…
UPDATED 4/1/13 at 10:20 PM:
2 down, 6 to go.
Darcy Regier continues to work, in sequential order, from the trade list we posted on March 13.
Our second recommended deal went off quite a bit better than planned. We asked for a 3rd round pick in exchange for Robyn Regehr (dealt to L.A. Kings) and the Sabres instead converted the veteran d-man into a pair of 2nd rounders.
So far, the fire sale has yielded three 2nd round picks and a 5th which may become a 4th… and it’s barely begun!

We expected Darcy Regier to follow our plan but didn’t know he’d take our list right from the top.
Our first recommended deal went off as we imagined, estimating the value of Jordan Leopold (dealt to St. Louis Blues) to be slightly lower than what Winnipeg pulled in for Johnny Oduya last year (and 2nd and a 3rd.)
We guessed a 3rd and a 4th and the Sabres brought in a 2nd and a 4th or 5th.
Leopold was first on our list. Regehr was second.
@TrendingBuffalo the thing is Hecht is worth a dozen dirty towels and a broken stick from 2003
@TrendingBuffalo we would take mud flaps for the zamboni if someone calls about Hecht right?
@TrendingBuffalo Love it! Can we get a 2nd rounder for a player who's afraid to get hit??? I'd settle for a (fillin blank).
@TrendingBuffalo we can only hope.
@TrendingBuffalo Darcy is doing better than the plan so far, he probably read it and took it as a challenge.
@TrendingBuffalo Darcy is doing better than the plan so far...
@TrendingBuffalo This is ruining my plans for Wednesday. Regier is never this aggressive or sets the market. He must be pissed.
@TrendingBuffalo You...... you orchestrated this whole thing, DIDN'T YOU?!?!
@TrendingBuffalo Holy cow, I just saw the non picture of Jochen Hecht and almost spit out my coffee.
@TrendingBuffalo Yeah Hecht could easily get a 3rd or 4th Round pick as well...
@TrendingBuffalo I think you guys have Regehr too low. I think at least a second. Prediction: 2nd and a prospect from Kings.
