Bob Gaughan looks at this year’s crop of RBs.

Bob Gaughan watches more college football than anyone you know. We asked him for his quick thoughts on the top prospects in this year’s NFL Draft. (If you start following him on Twitter, maybe he’ll even start tweeting.)

RUNNING BACK

Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy, Alabama – Was it him or the best OL in college football?

Andre Ellington, Clemson – Love him. Elite speed like Spiller.

Joseph Randle-, Oklahoma State – Overshadowed by Weeden and Blackmon last year came into his own this past year.

Giovani Bernard, North Carolina – Would have been a Heisman candidate if went back next year. Love his lower body strength.

Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina – Love him but coming off injury. He is going to be a steal.

Stephon Taylor, Stanford – Another steal. Love the way he runs. Like Stanford guys in general.

Montee Ball, Wisconsin – Shutdown early in season by teams like Oregon State. Came on late with big games as Badgers went to Rose Bowl. 201 yards vs Nebraska in Big 10 championship game.

Le’Veon Bell, Michigan State – Big back but shut down too many times this year. Is he too big? 237, Jerome Bettis?

Jonathan Franklin, UCLA – RB’s so deep this year. Set school records for rushing and all-purpose yards. Thrived in Mora’s system.

Kenjon Barner, Oregon – Another speed back. Like LaMichael James from the same school.
